I've got a client that wants to hang some art in a public hallway but wants it protected from being touched/taken.

They are not looking for security hangers, they want a case/cabinet type structure that the are would hang in. I'm thinking maybe some type of acrylic pop out box that goes around the whole frame and screws to the wall.

Anybody have any suggestions? or ever dealt with something like this before?

They have 3 separate art pieces, each measuring about 32x36

Have you seen the type of wall cases with sliding gl### doors (lockable) that high schools display team photos and trophies in? I'm thinking something like that. Make it 6" - 8" deep and frame it out in a nice moulding. Have a gl### shop make the doors and supply the tracks. Oh! have a good strong plywood back.

Protection

Sheet polycarbonate (which is used for bulletproof glazing) screwed to the wall with security screws is a safe option.

Waddell Displays makes cabinets similar to what you describe. They also make those sliding glass door cases you see in schools. You should be able to find them quickly with a search. When you see the prices, you might think your frames are under-priced, but they are good quality and effective.

I would not recommend a acrylic box/case, those things in a public hallways will get knocked into and the corners pop loose.
