Help Army Colors

We usually try to use unit or branch colors. The most common colors are Newport blue (top) and Devonshire blue (bottom). But we use green and gold or green and black also.

For the greens I use
Crescent
Shamrock Green 77111 (Suede)
Sherwood Green 1693(Rag)
Foxhunt Green 1703
Forest Green 9820 (Select)
Moss Green 9819
Moss 1702 (Rag)
Asparagus 7134 (Suede)

But the are getting ready to change over to blues:
Sapphire 7195 (suede)
Navy 7166
Lapis 1626
Newport Blue 1550
Country Blue 1656
Devonshire Blue 1657

Would you please tell me mat colors you recommend for Army green. Thanks
Jeannie

Unfortunately theres no such thing as Army Green anymore with the US Army and thier new ACUs.

Now if you want the old Woodland Camo BDUs I would probably second using Crescent Shamrock or Moss Green. If you go with the Grapkik Dimensions (GD) Mats I would say possibly Williamsburg Green (PM988, regular mat unfortunately), Grass Green (Pm1045, regular mat) or possibly Black Watch (PM333 for regular mat and AF1633 for Acid-Free Rag mat) if you want a darker green and if you want the classic Military OD green GD Avacado (PM1084, regular mat) to me looks close to the Olive Drab you would see on say WWII vehicles (used my GD swatches to closely mat the color to the local VFW Posts display tank and Avacado was the closest in shade). If I had some swatches other then the GD ones such as the Crescent Swatches I could possibly recommend some other green shades.

For the new ACUs I would say you may be able to get away with using GD Sage (AF1631, Acid-Free Rag mat), though I may be incorrect since I dont have any ACU's only the Woodland Camo, was in the Army before getting discharged due to an injury before they came out with the ACUs.

This will help a bunch. Thanks for all the options to both of you.

I have been doing some more "research" on the GD mat board, it looks like they use Crescent Mat for their mat board, the colors and product numbers so far have seemed to line up, ie GD Williamsburg Green is PM988 (my GD swatch just has the # as 988) where Crescent Williamsburg Green is SRM988. With a quick glance the numbers for other color mats seen to match up (if you just use the numbers and not the lettering).

It also seems that the Mat Board sold at Hobby Lobby is also Crescent, the numbering for thier boards also follows the Crescent numbering. Yeah I know Hobby Lobby has a limited selection of Mat colors and its probably all regular mat and not Acid-Free Rag that they have out on the floor, but hey if you have a HL near you and for some reason you need a sheet or two of regular mat in a color they carry, while the mat is priced $7.99 a sheet (though it does seem to go on sale all the time for 50% off) they are more convenient then having to wait to order it. Matter of fact I ended up picking up 24 sheets in Arctic White (Black Core), Newport Blue, Williamsburg Green, Raven Black (Black Core), Smooth Black, and Very White today taking advantage of their 50% off all Mat Board until 7/24 (need to have some mat board for mats for some of my photography I am working on and also to do a mat for a friend whose husband in the Army, she wants me to take some photos of him in his uniform when he gets home from AIT and put them in a frame along with the portrait he had taken while in basic, and didnt want to wait for an order to come in).

GD mats ARE Crescent. Do you have a local wholesale? It is much less than H.L.Here papermat, should I want it(not anymore...)ran about $5 a sheet, or a bit less if I got 25 sheets. Also be careful with condition of the sheets at a retailer, they get handled a lot. Could you maybe find fabric that matches the uniform and cover the mat with that? That could be cool. L.
