Are you listed?

I'm not in it and it's not up to date.
I see a shop listed that has not been operating under the name they have for at least 2 years.

Mine's there, but so are 3 other frame shops in town that have been gone for over 3 years. Curious.

Yep, listed.

As those who are wondering why defunct business are still listed: One has to ask to be included (I know I did), and those who go out of business usually don't ask to be removed, so they just stay there.

Well, one of our locations is in there. Never heard of them. They also list all of our suppliers with contact info for all to see, bless their hearts.

I'm listed, but...

I think I recall this same topic coming up a couple of years ago. I listed my biz at that time. I do notice several neighboring towns in NC that the frame shops have either closed/sold/changed name. The list is definitely not up to date.

There are three frameshops listed in all of Wisconsin - all of them in Appleton.

I'm pretty sure there are more than three shops in Wisconsin. There are a lot more than that in Appleton.

It appears to be an old cut and paste copy from http://www.pictureframer.com/public/department27.cfm pictureframer.com was updated more recently. It looks like they originally got the info from the yellow pages directory, six or more years ago.

The site in question appears to be offering info for purposes of earning google adwords/ads by google click commissions. You'll notice ad links on the left side, and after the first few entries. This can be lucrative for the owner of the site, and public information is often presented in this way; to grab some search engine hits and eventually some commissions/clicks.

It's harmless, but I suspect the info will remain outdated.

I sent in a request to be listed, we’ll see if I get a response.

I also offered to upload the link exchange to my web site. A similar page exists on my site for a group of photo stores. It’s called a Google bomb. As a Johnny-come-lately this link exchange may not help my Google standing but it is a good idea.

I also sent a request to be listed. I never heard of the site either. No one is listed in Altoona PA and I know there are a couple of them. Just going to wait and see what happens.

Very interesting to see some that were gone 10 years ago, and others who have been in busines 3 years at least and aren't.

Scroll down below the ads Ron - your shop is listed so don't feel too left out...

I feel left out. We closed our store a year ago, but I'm not on the list. (But then neither is ANYONE from my area of Maryland.) They left out a LOT of Maryland.

If you wish to riciprocate with a link exchange, 1. list a link to us on your site, 2. notify us, and 3. your link will be posted immediately.

I would have to think about "riciprocating"....wouldn't that be advertising your competition??

went on to look in FLA----happen to catch MIAMI----you see how many shops listed there???????? TONS & TO NS !!!

Steve - Tampa

They seem to have missed Tampa as part of Florida too! They have Sanibel which is, what 1 sq mile??? But no Tampa?? I mean we have more pick-up truck accidents in one hour than Sanibel has residents!!!!

Apparently this site is still being maintained all be it slow. I went on when this thread first came to my attention a few weeks ago and emailed them that my store wasn't listed. Got an email today and went to the site and there we are now. So apparently if you want listed you have to request it, if you information changes, you have to notify them.

Just thought you might want to know.

The theory behind reciprocal links is that the more links you have to and from your web site, the more popular and relevant your site is, and the higher your Google and Yahoo! rankings will be. Theoretically if you linked to another site, both of those sites would “bubble” towards the top while other non-linked sites would be left behind.
