Just got a call from a designer, looking for an arched top frame for a mirror.

68 base 36 sides 40 at top center. Anyone know of a source for this thing? I've had warped moulding before, but not this warped!

One of the closed corner companies could probably do this for you - expensively. It seems a bit big for the custom work from InLine Ovals. A good cabinet maker could also do it, but then it might then be his retail sale.

Thanks Pat, glad this lady didn't call yesterday, I had no DSL and no internet!

Presto said its also called an overmantle mirror. Still popular in the UK. Maybe robo or dermot has access to one of these babies!

As Pat mentioned, the Closed Corner crowd (AMCI, Regence, CDNV, etc) could definitely do it, if money is no object.

Anything not in a straight line though, will cost 2-3 x as much. I checked yesterday...:)

I was looking for the same thing a few months ago. same results.

By that do you mean you found one, or that it was too expensive to pursue?

I'm thinking I need to go to a local gilder, frame craftsman. (Oh wait, that's supposed to be me!)

Have you tried InLine? They advertise "Any Size". The catalog prices only go to 72 UI but it says "Larger Sizes Available". You would have to send them a paper template of the shape and 50% deposit. Good luck!

I didn't find anything, although I did not pursue having one custom made by a craftsman, or the high end frame companies.
Inline was no help also. The clients, both designers had no luck either. We ended up framing something else for the spot.

A Street Frames in Cambridge can make anything.
