Acrylite AR - how do I tell which side is coated? (It's difficult to tell with the standard scratch test!) One side has brown kraft, the other white - is it the white side? I tried Cyro's website but that was a monster to navigate -

Thanks in advance

All of the CYRO Acrylite acrylic I've seen with their abrasion-resistant treatment (designated AR) is treated on both sides, not one side.

There is a remarkable difference in the scratchability of AR vs standard acrylic. If you touch both with a small piece of steel wool, that would remove all doubt.

Cyro's AR1 is coated on one side only. Most of what we get is AR1 but as you say Jim, it is no problem to tell which is the coated side.

Lois, I guess that means it is available with the AR treatment on one or both sides. Presumably, treatment on only one side would cost less than treatment on both sides, and for typical framing the inside surface gets no abrasion.

For direct contact overlay/pressure mounting, having the AR treatment on the inside is important, because papers and some textiles are abrasive enough to scratch ordinary acrylic. Optium Acrylic products are treated on both sides, which is a prerequisite for the optical coating process.
