It has been brought to my attention that no matter who calls laughing their heads off, no matter who sends you an email with a thumbs up... there are others who you may have offended. Such is this case.

In the thread about Varnish on an outside project, I made a quick suggestion with a reference that I assumed would have a common understanding. End result, I was wrong.

Susan May was not familiar with the term I used or the process that I was referring to; and I didn't think I need to beat the gong by typing my response in green. I was wrong.

With that, I extend my deepest and most sincere apology to Susan May and anyone else I may have offended with my obfuscated attempt at humor.

My friend, I'm probably like a lot of people. Reading this and not knowing if
making a post will be a good thing or bad for it. I sure don't want to add to
something painful.

I'll just say this and tippy-toe out of here: I admire what you've done by
posting this comment.

That's all I can think of to say, without pouring gas on any fires, so I'll say it and skedaddle. Goodnight, and I hope your weekend goes well.

Is this some private war going on? I didn't see the offense although I love the fact that you make an official and very public apology. Can we say ####, again?
Or is it 'he who must not be named' (funny!)
We'll call you Baerdemort then. Since #### is on the list now.

####, we all know you have an off beat sense of humor. We admire your knowledge and skills wholeheartedly. I really do believe we all know you mean no malice in your responses.

Lori

I'm pretty much lost.

But I'll say this...#### is a treasure and Susan May is an wonderful moderator.

If there was a clashing, it was one of misunderstanding and not one of malice.

I'm glad I have you both to watch over me.

Holy cow, Bur's a bad word now? That's like saying we can't say framing.

But I respectfully ... um... respect.

Banning a member's name has to be the most childish abuse of power I have ever witnessed.

I have to say this web site needs some fricken daylight. Scarlet letters anyone?

Well...I think its like this...

I think if Bur had a problem with it, then I would too..and I think he'd say so. I can't say it doesn't bother me...a namesake is precious. But if he's suffering it as part of his apology then who am I to disagree with what he's agreed to?

In a way though, it goes to show you just how many times framers say his name and need Bur here.

Baerdemort, I think, has been banned "in name only". Maybe a good first offense for a grumbler that has stood the test of time. He has been known to push buttons, but has typically refrained from going too far. So the "in name only" banning is OK. I don't think we should take the mods to task for it.

I'm going to agree, and say this; I started framing six years ago, and like most all of you have learned something new every day of my time in the field. When I found this site, I was in heaven. Not only did I readily find answers to basic questions I didn't know the answers to, it ignited a passion in me for the craft. I took the lessons I learned here and directly applied them on a daily basis. What always amazes me is the immediacy at which this community of framers comes through in times of need. Be it a simple mounting, painting, varnishing, glazing, materials question. Or something more complex like the chemical reaction needed to make iron oxide for giving new wood that 30yr old barn look. Or the compassion and support that is given when one of our own falls on bad times. This has always been a place that I felt comfortable.

Baerdemort is one of the nicest, well informed, skilled, sarcastic, funny, asinine, geniuses I have ever had the pleasure of meeting (even if it was complete happenstance in front of the Ufitze for the first time)

Baerdemort is a great man who has helped us all in many many ways, and who has pissed us all off at one time or another. To ban him would be a great loss to all of us.

I thought it was meant to be a funny response to
a tense situation. That could be perceived as harsh,
but in a different light, it can be seen as gentle and
balancing. Far better than banning someone, and if Baer
can take it, we might as well chill and let it be. Now that his name
is persona grata again, can we keep calling him Baerdemort
sometimes? It makes me smile.

Thank You!! We need our papa Baer here!!!

Really now, nothing he said was thaaaaaat bad, for cryin' out loud!

I'm pretty sure we've heard WORSE straight from the HORSES mouth!!!!!!! :D :D :D

It's been kind of fun to be able to insert the four letter word of your choice preceding Charlton but it sounds as if the fun is about to end. Good thing he has a wonderful sense of humor! Welcome back!

Baer's name being blacklisted was a joke, folks!

Even he acknowledged it as such.

If he were really being naughty, he would have been sent to "Banned Camp".

Cut the guy some slack... first, he's new (Welcome sir/madame which ever applies) and second.... show me the spell checker that works on that sucker. :D

SILENCE MUGGLES!
