A new client dropped off part of a Klingon costume ... I'm trying to find out a bit more about this particular tunic / neck-chest piece ... haven't been able to find images of / information about this particular outfit online ... its an original costume from Star Trek VI ... would like some input / comments from a Klingon expert. How I frame it has been left up to me and I want to make sure I incorporate the right design elements (e.g. possibly a background image, or maybe a suitable phrase in a Klingon font). So if you are an ardent Trekkie, possibly fluent in Klingon, give me a holler.

There's a tunic that goes over the head, and hangs to about waist height. On top of that is some kind of thick carved plastic that goes over the neck, secured at the back with Velcro, and presumably hangs down the chest.

I asked my geekified sister for you, she says to start at StarTrek.com, You might find a fan club that might have an official status that could be pretty helpful. Maybe even find a facebook based fan club.

She's even told me how there's a gent that actually speaks "Clingon"...(geeks, gotta love 'em)I can get that information for you if you'd like ;)

Some good ones from the movie are
Captain Spock: There is an old Vulcan proverb: only Nixon could go to China.

General Chang: Cry havoc, and let slip the Dogs of War.
General Chang: "Tickle us, do we not laugh? ##### us, do we not bleed? Wrong us, shall we not revenge?"

Chancellor Gorkon: You have not experienced Shakespeare until you have read him in the original Klingon.

You can even watch it

This is how it ended up ...

My original design suggestion was too steep for her pocket. Therefore to strike a balance between the aesthetic and her budget I utilized a deep acrylic front, slipped through an angular Studio black frame with red accent lines (thanks for the suggestion, Verdaccio!)

A Hubble Deep Space photo was drymounted and then used as the mountboard,.

A 'body form' was constucted to provide shape to the costume.

Two nits to pick:

1. Star Trek fans prefer to be known as trekkers, not trekkies.

Way cool!!! Live long and prosper!

2. That's the Vulcan greeting, not Klingon.

By the way, the proper response to "Live long and prosper" is "Peace and long life."

They can prefer all they want......
They can prefer all they want......
They can prefer all they want......

but the little dweebs will always be known as Trekkies

just ask their lord high priest Leonard Nimoy..... or Sheldon

Soft kitty, warm kitty.... little ball of fur...

Correct:Now let's see you do the Vulcan salute.

(I am told this was originally a Jewish benediction gesture which Leonard Nimoy probably learned in his local synagogue.)
