I was just curious if there were any framing trade shows located in Dallas Texas...

I have family close to there and could combine trips. Thanks for your help.

The "Three Stars Over Texas" show is going to be held in Waxahachie in April 2006 (I think...or it might be May). It will have vendors and education. Waxahachie is about 35 miles south of Dallas. It has a really cool old courthouse in the historic downtown area, lots of restored Victorian homes, and great antique shops. Plus you can come by and visit me at my shop...1/2 block from the courthouse.

Call if you need directions!

Thank you sooo much. Is it a Framing Trade show and is there a web site? I usually visit my family around that time of the year anyway. Thanks again.

LeighAnn,

It's a very nice intimate one day show and classes put on by the Texas PPFA Chapter.

LeighAnn,
Sorry I didn't reply sooner, I must have logged off right after your second post. Baer is correct about the dates. This show was held here 3 years ago, and was really great for a mini-show. The next year it was held in Houston and I did not attend. Last year it was in Austin, but it had shrunk in size considerably and I believe the attendance was way down. The organizers were apparently having an uphill battle getting vendors to commit because of last year's show. However, the North Texas chapter has lots of real go-getters and I have faith they will be able to pull it off beautifully.

Dallas is more centrally located and is easier for people to come from Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, etc, for a quick weekend. It was the site of the old ABC show (I guess I'm dating myself here!). On a shuttle at the Decor show in Atlanta this year, I struck up a conversation with a man who said his company was trying to organize a larger show in Dallas very similar to the old ABC show. That would be great.

Having said all that, I really want to encourage you to also try to attend one of the big shows, like Atlanta or Las Vegas, if you have not yet done so. Save up for it. It is worth every penny.

By the way, although the name of the town is pronounced "walks-a-hat-chie", it really has no "t" in it...except on some really old Texas maps! :D
