I saw a post regarding Anti-Reflection Mylar back in 2008 and seeing how it's now 2011, I'm hopping........

Is Anti Reflection Mylar available? If so, is it as archival as Mylar-D with that AR coating? And where can I buy it?

What about Invisi-mount from Attach E-Z, it's available in non-glare and semi-glare. Is it as archival as Mylar-D? Seeing how Mylar-D is a Polyester film and Invisi-mount is a Polypropylene film.

If you can find anti-reflection clear film, please let us know. As far as I know, nobody has come up with a way to apply anti-reflection optical coatings to any clear film product.

The only non-glossy polyester clear film, to my knowledge, is the frosted-finish Mylar commonly used in industrial drawing/drafting applications. It has a microscopically bumpy surface, like "non-glare" glass or acrylic. Some framers like to use it in direct-contact overlay applications, but it does not have the clarity of Mylar-D and Melinex 516. The polyester substrate of the frosted film probably would be chemically stable, but it may have ink/adhesive-enhancing chemical coatings of unknown composition, which could possibly react in the closed environment of the frame.

Pat Kotnour can tell you all about InvisiMount, which is exclusively her product.

Anti-reflective coatings

A true anti-reflective coating comprises thin films of silicates and metal oxides which are designed to have just the right thickness so that the out going reflection is opposite in phase to the in coming light and the two cancel each other. It is difficult to sputter coat these materials on acrylic sheet, without it warping, and impossible to put them onto polyester sheet, successfully.
