This is another that I made for a customer.

The Base is LJ Musee 338631. The top is LJ Musee 191631 mitered 90 degrees from normal with glass inserted in saw kerf slots before glueing. The box holding the vertical glass is made from LJ Eastlake 287615.

With TV Museum glass all around, retail price was $900.

Katman,

The top frame is a mini shadowbox frame. Cut the miter with the frame lying on what was intended to be the outside of the frame with slots cut in what used to be the bottom of the moulding. Then, join with the glass in the slots. Turn over and you have a cap for the top of the case with the decorative gold facing out. A more inexpensive case would have the top glass inserted in the top plain black moulding, but would then lose the decorative gold top.

Katman,

The vertical glass is also in saw kerfs. (It is difficult, but not impossible, to find small table saw blades with a kerf of about 1/8".) the glass should not be tight. I come from a wooden model ship-building background where it is considered a crime to build a case that does not breathe. I also use felt pads where parts of the case rest against each other for additional venting.

I don't get down here to the bottom of the page very often, how did I miss this? Very cool Pat. I don't even want to know how you did it, way way out of my league. Looks like you command a nice price for one of those jobs. I bet it takes some time. Beautiful.
