I have searched the grumble for info on framing animation cels and found a link to Merrill Graysons website which has some good info.

Does anyone else who frames cels regularly have any other info that might be helpful?

I need to consume as much information as I can so that I can do the framing in the best way possible.

I've done a few. Clearly, they must be handled carefully – cotton gloves are recommended.

Matting is a must.

The "painted" side of the cel is usually down.

And it is one of the few instances where I insist that acrylic glazing (because of it break resistance) be used rarther than glass.

Osgood, I've only framed one animation cell (and that was pre-grumble, so I didn't have anyone to ask...), but I just used mylar so as to make sure that nothing touched the painted area of cell and used a complementary mat behind it, as well as matting it regularly. It came out well (and since it was small, we went with Tru-Vue CC glazing). I know the customer was thrilled, but I did warn her that it may still break down over a period of time. They're not meant to last forever, after-all...but hopefully I elongated its life. Hope that helps.

In addition to what Merrill and the others have
said, keep in mind the possibility that the
paint on the cel may have additives in it to
keep it sticky (so it will stay on the plastic).
This means that it should be spaced well away
from anything that is placed behind it, since
any contact could lead to its sticking itself
to that other material.

Hughs advise is very well taken. However that is exactly why Merrill suggest the placement of a sub MAT under the ascetate in his HH TIPS. He even suggest the use of Hugh's strip hinges that are secured away from the work.
Isn't it GREAT when Great Framing Minds work together and Great FORUMS cross referance each other.

Thank you for all your answers. I now have sufficient good information to do the job. Now I just have to wait for the customer to arrive with the cels.
