We have what looks like an animation cell, but perhaps is just a print on acetate or Mylar, with a separate background painted on paper. The customer is concerned that the acetate will eventually sag or warp if it’s only supported on the sides and held 1/8 inch away from the background. Any opinions?

If it is a production cel, its ink may become
sticky, in time and it should be kept away from
the background. Acetate may change shape, eventually, but that would happen, even if it
were set against the background. Clients should
be warned that production cels are not stable,
in the frame or in the dark. Seri-cels are better
for enjoyment in a frame.
