What is the best method for aligning pictures in a 20-opening mat? Do you drymount the pictures first, then cut the mat? Or, visa versa? thanks.

Cut the mat and hinge to backing board, lay out items and mount, walla walla ding dang your done, pretty simple:)

Right. It's "Ooh ee ooh ah ah, ting tang walla walla bing bang..."
I think that's on the CPF exam.

"I told the Witch Doctor I don't know what to do!
I told the Witch Doctor I'm so in love with you and he said...Ooh eeh ooh ah ah...etc..."
Isn't that from the Purple People Eaters? Man, now I feel really old! Anyone remember "Teenagers from Outer Space?" Scared the peewaden outa me! I can't believe I remember that stuff! (Did I?) Where, in those files in our heads, do those come from???? Itsy bitsy teeny tiny yellow polka dot bikini" ...all that....Oh dear...maybe I need a nap now.....I feel old.

Oh yeah, back on track...what they said about cutting the mat first, and hinging the pictures to the back of the mat.....don't try to dry-mount them....they'll scoot all over the place.

Not if you tack them into place with your tacking iron. (that is assuming that heat won't bother them)

If you do hinge them to the back of the mat (I prefer this for multiple openings), put a little piece of tape to keep the bottom of each picture from flopping backward while you're hinging the others. It can create nasty folds and creases otherwise.

First you put the lime in the coconut and d . . .

oh, wrong mount..

OK, tack tissue to backs of all pictures. Trim to picture. Lay out under mat then tack each picture down to backer. Throw in press. ......

And even in Broooklyn its "bada bing, bada bang, anda Bam Wham thank YOU ma'am".

...even though I don't do the latter anymore ;). Seriously, I use my x-acto marking gauge to make registration lines on my mat to align the pictures. If you don't have one, this will do nicely.

I get the backing sheet cut with apertures in the CMC with the blade set high so that it only lightly scores the sheet rather than cutting right through. You can then lay out the images on the backing sheet knowing that two sheets will match up.
