PFG, Picture Framing God
In the spirit of Framing Fashionista's spray painted frame, here's one of mine. The customer wanted a white frame, but they also wanted it to be very ornate with a deep scoop. I wasn't coming up with anything in the catalogs, so I proposed we refinish LJ's Goya 899 profile, which is a black rubbed finish. I also happened to have some of that on hand, so I felt like experimenting. Basically, I spray painted primer and silver paint, applied a crackle finish with white, and added some silver rub n buff. The husband came to pick it up and he liked it.
Now, my photo isn't the greatest quality. It's a little blurry and the downward angle makes it look like her head is crammed up close to the top, which it isn't. It's also more crackled that in appears here, but oh well. Was it effective?
And if there are any "disgrace to the industry" opinions out there, I do welcome them if accompanied by a recommendation on where I can get a very white very ornate frame at least 4" wide with a deep scoop. Actually, I would appreciate those recommendations anyway on account of I don't know if this is a huge hit or not and it may come up again.
It's not really a readymade
That's my joinery. It's a throwback title.
