I know that Dec. is not the time for sales But what about after Xmas? Has anyone ever run a sale for things brought in after Xmas?
This might encourage people not to bring in things that aren't really needed before Xmas ,thus adding to the mad rush and don't you find that there is a lul after Xmas since EVERYBODY needed it done Yesterday but doesn't pick it up till after New Years.
If you have how do you word your add and what do you give off? Oh and by the way How does it work or why don't you think it will?

PS the title should have been " After The Rush Sale" guess it has gotten to me more than I realized.

We are running a promotion to encourage people to put-off til January what they really don't need by Christmas. When they bring artwork in now, we offer a 10% discount if pickup is in January and pre-pay the full order. Amazing how many people don't really need it for Christmas afterall and will wait til January in order to save 10%.
For the past several years, January has become one of our biggest months.

I've found that a lot of people do not want to bring in their really good pieces during the Christmas rush. They wait untill they think things have slowed down to bring them in. For us, this starts the day after Christmas. ( Boxing Day, eh ) January is usually a big month for us for that reason.
We don't run special sales.

I don't run sales on framing, ever. Since people do look for sales after xmas, this year we are going to run an after xmas sale on photo frames, framed stuff that didn't sell, and other odds and ends. I am putting together a "free if you frame it" bin of prints, posters, limited editions and the like. We have done this promo before with pretty good results. We are discussing putting ads in the paper and sending out a mailing offering people an extra discount if the bring in a coupon or the postcard. Will not include framing.
