I'm framing some military medals, some of which no longer have the spring keepers to go on the pins. I'm attaching them to a substrate of 1/8" Fome Cor sandwiched between two sheets of matboard with PVA. I've pinned the medals to the board thinking I'd find some keepers later(know any sources?) and they seem pretty secure from the friction fit. What do you think? Would they loosen over time without the keepers?

I can't say for sure but think I may have a hundred or more of the backs. If you think you are going to need some let me know how many and I will look around. If I still have them they are free to help out a fellow Grumbler.

A dab of silicone around the pin. Push into board and set aside to dry overnight. Holds well.

I use pierced ear earring backings. Wal-Mart / K-Mart have a huge selection. They seem to hold much better than the original brass wing types and are not as high.
