How do set up your print ads? Is there a software or templates to use? I am tired of having the newspaper format my ads, they never look exciting, just average and a waste of money.

We use Photoshop and do our own.

Most likely, this is what they are using at the other end.

I use Quark Express.

You can use any modern word processor but the amount of control you have over precise placement is somewhat to severely limited.

Ditto

But you need to find out what their digital input requirements are. They may accept psd, pdf and/or jpg files or may have other requirements. Find those out first.

We did a group of half page (gasp, I never thought I would say this word again - because its dead) NEWSPAPER ads this week, and they required 300DPI PDF in CMYK format. That's a piece of cake for Adobe Photoshop. The scaled down version (Adobe Elements) can probably save as CMYK also, but i'm not positive. Someone with the program can hopefully confirm.

Andy is our resident photoshop artist (NOT ME!) for ads and for light photo restorations that we do in-house. For the heavier ones, we send it out to DigitalCustom.
