Some idiotic telemarketer called first thing this morning, and asked immediately if we use 3M 77 for mounting.

He didn't even introduce himself, just proceeded with the stupid questioning and got really nasty when I asked who he was to begin with!

Caller ID will show "out of Area".

We have had that one several times....

Do people still use that stuff?

Mike

I use it in limited applications.

Mounting laminated maps is one that comes to mind.

Ha! Ha! I had the call but simply said "not interested, please take me off your calling list."

They hung up.

Uhh ohh Dave! Get ready your phone is going to start ringing off the hook.

Sounds like one of telemarketers calls selling off-brand ATG tapes.

3M77 guy the same as STICK IT! guy??

Now and then I have a guy call about the "STICK IT!" spray adhesive. They also carry "BLOW OFF!" (canned air), and "GET OFF!"(glass cleaner). I tell him (every time!) that I want no product in my shop that yells at me and whose label might send a negative message to me or my customers, and please take me off his call list. He is "VERY RUDE!", and yells, just like his aerosol cans do, and won't hang up and keeps interrupting me, so I hang up on him! He still calls. I still say the same thing. And I can't star69 (call back to report him to his company) because the number is blocked.:fire:

Val ...just tell him where to STICK IT and BLOW him OFF and tell him to GET OFF your phone!!!

:D

But, he may be exactly the kind of salesman they want and end up giving him a raise and promise a bonus if he can get you to buy something....

These calls scream for an air horn by the phone!! One good blast in the phone and POOF... no more caller.:beer:

Anyone got a callback number for this outfit? If you post it here, I'd like to call them.

I got a call this morning too. As soon as he opened with, "Do you use ...77," I told him to do something that was anatomically impossible, which probably put him in a bad mood.

Sure enough, he called back 10 minutes later and left a voicemail message in which he told me I had "a pottie mouth." LOL

That Tom Mabe sequence is one of the funniest things I've ever heard.

I'd love to be able to pull that off.

:D

Got my call this morning. Name and number blocked which is illegal for telemarketers in the state of Pennsylvania to do. I just hung up without responding. Telemarketers zap my energy sometimes.

Where are they getting all our numbers? Is Decor selling mailing lists again?

Here is the web site. It has an 800 number. Give'em ####.

I get that call every couple of months. I have always found it weird that they dont give you any type of hello or introduction, just a "do you you spray mount?" A quick "no I dont" does the trick for the most part.

FYI-- I was given a couple cans of "MAX" multi-purpose spray adhesive (dont know where you'd buy it) and have been using it to lay down paper(notebook up to watercolor paper) and laminating matbd, etc---(says carpet, plastic, cardbd, fabrics, paper, foams, metal, foil, archival docs(oh?)) ,and find it's just as nasty as any other of the sprays but does a better job of holding than #77......only thing really bothering me is the "danger' byte....."EXTREMELY FLAMMABLE" (that's standard) "vapors may cause flash fire'(that one bothers me...just what would it take to set this stuff off???)
as I do ALL my spraying outside I dont have much concern. I must admit I dont remember what it says on any of the other labels, but is likely the same/similar, yes?

Never tell a telemarketer that you use whatever it is they are selling. Always be polite, firm, and courteous. If they are calling about insurance, the best out is telling them a family member handles all your insurance. If it's about health insurance, tell them you use Secure Horizons if you have an older sounding voice.

A few years ago they were allowing prisoners to do telemarketing in a few states. I had one call me, I declined his generous offer for whatever and I hung up on him. He called me back and said something to the affect of "Listen you mother*****, I know who you are and where you are, I will get your ### for that." I was a few years younger then, still fairly confident in my abilities to turn most people into dog meat, so I gave it right back to him and hung up again. The problem with that approach was I now had to watch my back and I discovered I was concerned about it. About a week later I read this blurb in the paper about prisoners doing telemarketing, I quit worrying about it.

My point is, you do not really know what kind of nut is on the other end, so just be polite.

John

At least until the next "early release" program - after all you are in California.
