I have a thin paper cut out from 1942 that was acting as a mat. I would like to glue it to an actual mat cut out to the same size to provide some spacing from the glass and the art. However, it is warped from moisture over the years. Any suggestions on an adhesive to use to attach this old warped paper mat to a new mat?

I would probably try drymounting it.
With the warp, I am not sure if it will go into a simple flat shape, without wrinkles.

Best of Luck,

You could use Frank's Fabric Adhesive or acrylic gel medium. Both can be brushed or rolled on to your mat, allowed to dry, and are then re-activatable by heat. You could apply the thin "mat" into place, cover it with release paper, then use an iron or dry mount press to adhere it to your pre-pasted thicker mat. Maybe you could first use the iron or press to eliminate some of the warping before attaching the piece to your mat.
