A customer just brought in a small, engraved metal plaque they want attached to a wood frame. I did the framing but the had the plaque done by a local jeweler and it has no little nailholes or adhesive on the back to attach it with like all the others I have dealt with in the past. Any suggestions on what I can use to attach it to the outside of the frame and have it stay there?

Anne,

I imagine you could use many techniques. Drill two holes and use those brass brads like you were looking for. Or, what I usually do is put 969 ATG (stronger adhesive) and a touch of glue on the back.

Good Luck

Silicone works or if u want a realy strong bond go with a commercial adhesive like mastic. You don't have to worry about conservation issues with a plaque.

Duco cement is very good stuff, been around for ever.
Goop is a very nice thing too....

But for that traditional look.... gotta go with Cliff on this one...

Needless to say, any of the suggestions already mentioned will work.

We do a lot of brass plaques. Hanna's suggestion has always worked well for us - except that we use small brass screws rather than brads or nails.

Thanks! Knew someone here would know what to do. The plaque is silver colored, so I'll have to look for some little silver nails or screws. I probably have some somewhere in one of our junk drawers or boxes. We're pack rats so we never throw anything out. You never know what you might need! :D
