I have a 34 X 30 canvas I need to adhere to another canvas because it's too brittle to stretch on its own. (Yes I know I should refer it to a conservator, but I can't afford one) Would acrylic gel medium be a good adhesive to use? If not, any suggestions?

Contact Rob Markoff. He's the King of canvas strip-lining, so I'm sure he can give you good guidance on a complete re-lining. My guess is he'll recommend BEVA and a special type of canvas.

That or Lascaux 360 instead of the beeswax process on the Gainsborough web sit.
Lascaux is used more like a contact adhesive with both the linen and back of painting receiving a thin coat.
