Good customer has Native American object, wants it in an acrylic box that she can open. I need a reliable source for the box. Who have you used?

Box should be about 9" * 12" *3"

Thank you,
Karl.

Gemini Moulding/Showcase Acrylics in Elgin, Illinois can build a "Gravity Groove" acrylic box-frame of any size, which easily opens and recloses with no tools required.

Or you can build one yourself if you follow the instructions found in "The Complete Guide to Shadowboxes and Framing Objects", and have the acrylic box assembled by a local plastic fabricator.

Often, the enclosure is the easy part of such a project. Mounting the object for easy removal, while providing good support and avoiding damage, may be challenging. The same book has instructions for varous removable mounts for objects, too.

You mentioned a "hardwood bottom" for the enclosure. If the object includes metals (especially copper or silver) or bone or shell, hardwood may not be a good neighbor.

I haven't used them for boxes, only oversize acrylic sheet. They are spoken of highly here on the grumble, and they are in your neck o' the woods:
