Hi all,
Before anyone else suggests it I already used the seard button and didn't see what I wanted.
I am looking for a suplier on the east coast that makes or caries stock sized acrylic boxes. I've seen the boxes you put over things that sits on a platform, THAT IS NOT WHAT I WANT. Sorry to shout.

What I want is similar to the sports memorabilia case thing that united sells. Basicallly I want a box with a flange or lip at the open side that will fit in the rabbit of a frame.

The site I found for Gemini/Showcase did not show any such thing.

Instead of using really deep mouldings for shadowboxes I want to do a shadowbox that can be viewed from the side once it is hanging on the wall.

I am only assuming it exists, if it doesn't I will be a millionaire shortly.

Thanks all.
and remember....Never try to teach a pig how to sing...it wastes your time and annoys the pig!

I've never seen those in stock sizes.

Gemini/Showcase Acrylics and Superior Acrylics both custom build tem.

Superior Acrylic has filled several orders to our satisfaction. They provide custom sizes with or without a lip.

I believe Superior also has a full page of standard size boxes, either with or without the lip (or maybe that is just an easy pricing guide?) - it has been a while since I have looked at their catalog but they make an excellent product and ship carefully and swiftly.

Raise your hand if you're here.

I only asked because Superior Acrylics is the #1 listing in Google when you search for Superior Acrylics.

Any time somebody mentions acrylic fabrication, there are two names that always come up. It won't surprise you to learn that I have opinions about both.

Gemini/Showcase does a very nice job. They are easy to work with and can build just about anything if you are able to fax them a drawing. For me, the HUGE advantage of Showcase is their free weekly delivery to my city. Packing and shipping acrylic boxes is nothing like send a few chops.

Superior really does make a superior (maybe even unique) product. If I were going to have an acrylic product shipped to me, they would be my first choice.

I've also used Small Corp (just once, I think.) The box they made for me was flawless and expensive.

I've used a local fabricator that does adequate and uninspired work. The advantage is that I can go and talk face-to-face with the fabricators and explain what I need and they, in turn, can actually SHOW me what they can do.

Finally, I have used me - I think four times. I thought I should learn how to build acrylic boxes because I was accumulating lots of odd-size pieces of OP-3. Three of them turned out great (or at least "acceptable") and the fourth - a really BIG one - was a complete flop. When acrylic fabrication goes bad, there's no fixing it. You just start over.

The only way I would consider doing it myself again would be if I needed it today or tomorrow.

Thanks everybody, made some calls and am getting some more catalogs.

Ron your link would have helped but some crazy chicken thing knocked out internet access in my neighborhood.

(The site was exactly what I was hoping for, thanks)
