This frame is made from layers of chipboard! Luckily, I only have to replace the glass.

..hmmmm... Nope. I got nothing.

I remember a vendor for Kmart that made oval frames out of chipboard dipped in glue/gesso that was located on Livonia, MI back in the early 70's.

That's what this looks like.

Looks like they had a big roll of wet chipboard and just wound it up around some kind of form.

But no, the carpiest frame I ever saw was made out of 4 mitered pieces of 1x3 inch foamcore strips, coated with possibly Krylon glossy black and tastefully enhanced with gold highlights from a texture roller. It came from a liquor store display, a friend of mine was sure I could "fix" it even though the storefront framer next door had expressed strongly negative opinions about that possibility. I said sorry, I was completely out of duct tape.

Wow...

I have one of these wound chipboard frames, heck it`s right here near the ol` computer....Where it will stay as a curiosity, blech! :vomit: L.

4 tacks and a plastic bag

4 tacks and a plastic bag
was the cheapest frame I have ever seen:D

When I offered frame restoration I saw those all of the time. They were all convinced that they had some priceless hierloom that could be restored to it's original value for $3.95. I always held up a can of gold spray and told them that it would only cost them $2.95 to return it to it's original glory if they did it themselves.

I have seen several of those layered chipboard frames that were maybe from the forties or fifties and they were actually well made, very sturdy and kinda cool - customers are always amazed when I point out that the things were made out of cardboard.
