I wondered what I got myself into when I came up with this idea. I am really pleased at how it turned out, though. However, next time I would do a little more to a design like this. It definitely needs a fillet.

I used spring green bridal satin to wrap the mat. It took a couple tries. I actually used the drymount press as Chris Paschke suggests and it came out beautifully and quite easy.
I used zip ties and wove ribbon in them and that is what is holdingthe goblets in place. It is an idea from Pat. Worked great and looked nice.

This is gorgeous! How did you get the fabric folds to stay in place? What is behind the scenes? I want to do one of these! Candy, do you have this on a web site somehwere? I would love to include a photo of your work in an upcoming newsletter and link back to you for an enlargement. With attribution, of course. PM me if you are interested. My March newsletter is in green tones so it would fit in beautifully.

Thank you to all of you!!!

I used several layers of foam core to build up the sides. I then "draped" the satin over the foam core, pushed, punched, pinched, etc. until it seemed right. I did use some pieces of foam core to help the fabric stay draped. I used the EZ-tach to hold the fabric where it needed to stay. I used Chris Pashke's method of fabric mounting and it worked great, very easy to do. The goblets are held in place with zip ties that have ribbon woven through them.

As I started the project, I really wondered what I had gotten myself into this time, but in the end, it really didn't take as much time as I thought it would.

AWESOME CANDY!!

I love the Green too!! What did the customers say??

Great idea for a bridal show display!! ;)

The customer was very happy. She said that when I described what I was going to do, she had no idea what I was talking about and could not vision what I wanted to do. She said it was more than she could have even hoped for.

Candy, Here is a link to your frame with edits.

Use as you like. Let me know if you need the original high res file. We will have a thumbnail in the newsletter that will link to this page for enlargement. Thanks. It is fun and interesting for our customers to see what other framers have done.

Everyone should remember the Get Framed Facebook pages put up by the Consumer Awareness Commitee. You can add your photos to these pages to share with other framers and thier customers.

P.S. I like the frame as it, without a fillet.
