"I really don't want to spend much on these posters ... they're cheap and they're just for my husband's office. What do you have that's cheap?"

I think to myself: "Wow! They really are some crap, ugly posters, faded, blue shifted, badly cockled, with battered edges. I can understand why she wants to keep it cheap!"

But ...

We look at this

We look at that

We look at some more

We look at still more ...

We look at some of the ones we've already looked at

And still we look at more

Two hours pass by
.
.
.
.

And she drops well over a grand.

Apart from the artwork, they're gonna look GREAT!

So, turn off your answering machine and don't answer your phone all day tomorrow, so she can't call and cancel when she realizes what she's done and Hubby finds out "You spent HOW MUCH for those JUSTAPOSTERS???"

All kidding aside.....good work Andrew. We expect before and after pics, 'kay?

Or start cuttin something. Once work has begun on custom orders No Refunds! Hurry up and cut the mount board, something! :icon21:

I actually had one like that the other day that I was afraid would cancel after he thought about for a while or talked to his wife. I went ahead and mounted them ASAP!

Yeah, no kidding

I found out the hard way, with a mere $250 sale that I had to refund this week when the customer had an earful from her husband. Dry mount those puppies!

Paul, I instantly thought of you when I read Andrew's thread. Not to take away from Andrew's story, but sometimes, if it's too good to be true...it's too good to be true! But then, let's not send any negative vibes out there for Andrew!

Go Andrew....Go Andrew!

I know a woman who constantly buys clothing....expensive clothing, and then takes it back for a refund. She says she really didn't need the stuff, or even want it, she's just addicted to the process, the shopping rush, the getting it!. There's even a 12-step program for that, but I don't remember what it is....Shopper's Anonymous?? Kinda like Gambler's Anonymous....no really, I'm not joking here. This is Nevada....it's a huge problem here.

We're all crossing our fingers for ya, Andrew! Remember, before and after pictures!

Yup. We waited for the cancellation of the $2K order with that new Roma $110/foot moulding, but it looks good to go. Must be nice to have that kind of moolah.

The worst part of the cancellation is having to ring it out of the register. Makes the rest of the day kinda uphillish....

my pet button on this one is when the guy drives up, walks in with 2-3 posters, talking on the phone the whole time(only intterupting long enough to gasp out "frame posters---CHEAP!!!), I try tp pry info out of him---for the office--cheap!, show him some good looking framing, TOOO much $$$(what have you got in black??), show him plain blak metal--shudder/shake--dont like that!, move on to my lowest priced wood......you guessed it! TOOOO much $$$$(he's on the phone the entire 40min this all takes......says he'll go to wmart & get a good cheap one(I tell him it'll look like crap if he does that unless he's going to also cut mats or trim the images to fit, says that's ok--they're for the office---, walks out the door, gets into his old(last year's model) 4-door sedan BMW and leaves....................I absolutely do NOT understand people!

Bill, maybe with a customer like that (phone glued to their ear) you need to excuse yourself to take care of some work, tell them to let you know when they are finished with their phone conversation. Cell phones have made/added to people rudeness.

So go to liebermans and order 2 new posters to replace those faded ones. When she comes in and picks them up she'll think you ar a miracle worker!

Yeh Bob ... great idea ... but the her choices go with the blue shifted look of the originals!

Here's the postscript ...

She changed her mind!

But only on one of them!

After consulting with her Feng Shui friend there was no way she could use a beaded fillet!

It had to have oblique stripes.

And that means the moulding had to change to match ...

So "for just a few dollars more" she seems real happy!

Amazing these Feng Shui people!

Gotta say I'm with Bob here. I think it would be a great little somethin' extra to do for the client. You can adjust the matting to match the appropriate color even.

I don't know what happened to that other picture link, but it was supposed to look something like this:
