For a standard Morso chopper, what is the dimension from the floor to the measuring/cutting table surface? It may be around 34" as I recall from the choppers I've owned in the past, but I'm not sure.

The new (to me) chopper will be here in a week or so, but the new (to me) saw system has arrived and I would like to make its working height the same as the chopper.

Mine's a very old model, Jim, but I measure 32 1/2" floor to table height. However I have added a base to it to raise the height to 41 1/2" which is the height of my continuous table which has my saw on it too. The Morso base is open in the front and I have a collection box under the chopper which allows me to pull out the discards from the front.

Raising the chopper does make it so you have to lift your leg higher to step on the bar, but hey, it keeps me limber and I've never had it any other way. You don't have to bend over so far to work with the moulding either.

Thank you both for your quick replies. That is exactly the information I need. This might be the shortest thread posted in a long time.

Robert's measurement is probably dead on. Mine I had to subtract the base height and could easily be off a quarter inch.

Jim, I can't imagine raising a Morso Chopper up off the floor, the taller the moulding, the higher your foot will have to go. Seeing as you have a lot of shadow boxes, I would keep the chopper on the ground. (Just my two cents.)

I'd tell you how tall my Morso chopper was, but I don't have it anymore.

Susan, at 6'6" I don't think Jim is worried about raising his foot off the floor.

Older model 1937, 32 3/4" plus a 3 1/2" riser..... I might just add another 3/4" this winter.... I'm getting to old for this bend over stuff. :D

Last January..... I'm 6'.... 6'1" in Crocs, and he's taller. Or is it the black suit?

If you are the same height as Jim..... we gotta meet. :D

Funny how a thread can morph...

Sue May, I want to build the saw's support table to match the height of the chopper. I will leave the chopper on the floor.

It must have been the black suit, Baer. I'm 6' 1" in dress shoes, 6' 2" in my cowboy boots.:p

I'm 5' 10" in the morning but by sundown I've shrink to 5' 9".

:p

****kickers.... dang, thats it.. I need a pair of
Red ****kicker Crocs. :D Thank Jim.

psst: you should have left it at 6'5", it gave you more stature :D

Is there a framer out there with a tape measure who can check how tall Jim Miller is? (I say about 6' 1''). Bets are on....

See Jim, we CAN work a thread to death...
