I have a client that used a silkscreening company to print an image onto metal frames. There have had great success, up until recently, printing onto N9421 since 2006. With some recent product the company that screens tried washing the legs in soap and water, various solvents, and alcohol, all to no avail as the screen would not properly adhere to the metal chops.

While Nielsen has been very helpful in trying to determine what, if anything, may have changed... the bottom line is we are looking for other possible options if necessary to continue this process for my, and the silkscreening company's, client.

Is anyone familiar with a metal frame which's surface would accept this process?

thanks

PS: this is NOT a Nielsen bashing thread. I am just trying to learn about potential options that I am not aware of....

Nielsen must have changed something in the sealing process after anodizing for the ink not to stick.

You might try Designer 3825 or 4925 which are similar to the N9421.

thanks Doug. Nielsen's plant/prod mgr stated nothing in the process has changed... Very unusual. But we are still in discussions to find an option.

(I do have my Designer rep looking into options as well.)

If Nielsen didn't change the sealing then something changed at the printer. Has to be one or the other. Hope Designer works for you!

might be a poor 'second' but might you persue using a lazer to etch/imprint? problems are 1-finding someone with a lazer that would take on the job, 2-having the lazer large enough to contain the legs, 3-would lazer actually 'do' the job if it's not a 'thru' cut but only an 'etch'?, 4-how would various colors effect the process?
