I'm doing a job for a client who will rotate hanging on the wall a collection of old maps, engravings, etc. Is there a hanging system I don't know about which will not require brads, etc. in the wall itself? I suggested a rod system, but that doesn't seem to be flexible or invisible enough. Any ideas....other than what he suggested: fishing line?

I told him he should have installed fabric on the wall and he wouldn't see the holes. Too late. And...he likes his semi-gloss yummy-colored cinnamon/burgundy color. So did I. What do I say now?

other than, "I frame it c/p, I don't hang this stuff." Seems cheeky and....stupid?

Fish line to what? Does he have some sort of track at the top of the wall? If he doesn't have a track but wouldn't mind hanging one he might like the Gallery System™ . It uses a clear tape instead of a wire. Or maybe the Arakawa System . It uses a fine wire that doesn't show very much.

MM:

In the latest Pottery Barn catalog, pages 102 and 103 show a wall hanging system that may interest your customer.

A nickel-plated steel horizontal bar is attached to the wall and from that "shelving as well as framed art can be hung. Adjustable brackets slide up and down the pole to allow for varying heights of display."

IMO it is rather attractive in a contemporary way. It can be viewed on the internet at http://ww2.potterybarn.com/srch/index.cfm?src=hme&imgs=1&words=Wall+Easel&search.x=2&search.y=13.

Thanx, as always to you all. I e-mailed the links to my client and he's already liking the Arakawa. Just hope he doesn't want ME to install it. :(

And come to think of it, Kit, he could actually use an easel or two; and I hadn't thought of it.

Mel, watch your e-mail.....
