I need 30 - 3/4" matte black 8x10 ready mades without glass and backers.

I ordered Universal length and it chiped badly!!! With "brand new sharp blades", too. I'm over this project. Help me find a cheap solution. Now digging in to profit.

thanks
p.s. can't return mldg...assistant cut all 120 feet. :icon45: I have to eat it now.

Sometimes you can get lucky and find these in the dollar stores for one dollar.

The down side is that you will probably not be able to get 30 of them in one place.

If it were me, after "eating" that 120 feet, the sample would be thrown away with extreme prejudice.

Call your rep, maybe they will fix this problem for you.

What about a disk sander? Are the chips on the edge, or more like chunks on the bottom corner?

The flaw is in the moulding not your saw. If it was a new blade that is. I would treat it as such and return it as is and get the cost refunded. Most of my suppliers would have no problem with that.

I wouldn't be totally sure of that. I have a supplier who sells a line of matt blacks. They chipped in the saw, they chipped on the sander, I watched them chip when the edges rubbed together in the vise.

Needless to say, I sell them no more.

You can get a 350' box of Framerica 3/4" satin black for around $100 plus shipping.

I don't know if the price is right enough but

http://www.frameusa.com/architec.htm

has an architect series that you can order as 'shell only'

I agree that you should talk to the ol'rep and get at LEAST a partial credit for the bad stuff.

franken: has anyone used romas econo black line? i'll be getting some in to practice on, and post results.

Typical chipping at bottom outer edge. Also up the back and in the lip area. Oddly enough big chunks came off during joining. Thought I could sand and fix outer and lip problem but the big chunks while/after joining...no way!

BTW...cut on chopper, not saw.

I've had this happen myself (chunks coming off during joining). Basically what happens is that the crushing/shearing action of the chopper will loosen up a chunk of compo just a bit... not enough to be detectable, but enough so that the pressure of the joiner will finish the job. Very frustrating... you think you're on the home stretch with that frame, then it's back to square one with much cussing...
