Does anyone have experience cutting 8 ply Crescent rag mat board with a C&H Pro mat cutter? Any suggestions, or preferences of what type of blade works best?
Thanks!

I've just use their regular 1200 SE blade. I make, like 2 passes; the first just goes in a little ways; the second goes in the rest of the way.

The only problem I have found with 8 ply with the C&H is that it takes about 30 to 60 seconds to extend the blade, so I try to do all of my 8-ply cuttings at one time.

For example, if I have some extra scraps after I cut the mat, I've been known to cut some 3 " (plus or minus) wide strips to use in the future for 8 ply bevel wraps.

Good luck.

I prefer single edge blades for 8 ply mats. I prefer them in general, as opposed to the double edge. Some people like to flip them around and use the other end but I never feel like the other end is very sharp after it has been shoved back into the mount and taken out again.

You can't flip a single edge blade, it tears the mat.
I also would make 2 passes. For some reason cutting 8 ply with a C & H was never easy.
