When it rains it pours. Have a long time client who is bringing in a digital (ink jet) canvas to be stretched or mounted onto frame and then floated off the wall. Any ideas on how to do this, or is there anyone out thee that does work this size?

You all are the best,
Alan

Brace, brace, and cross brace, a canvas that long will draw a 2x6 into a bow if you don't add plenty of bracing!

Building the strainer is one thing, hand stretching that puppy with stretching pliers and a staple gun, .......... oh, ouchie!!!

Reliable printers for a large digital giclee on canvas?

I hope I am not too far off topic.... I have a customer interested in making a 48 x 96 inkjet print on canvass and I am wondering if anyone can recommend someone good to make the print. Hopefully someone who is willing to work with me wholesale so that I can also include a reasonable mark-up. Would also like to know what folks think is a reasonable cost and price for this as well as any other recommendations which might be useful.

Aloha

Laumont prints on all kinds of media at up to 72" including paper, canvas and even silver halide (yes, that is quite an awesome machine!). I believe they generally work on a wholesale type level. I'm not sure if they would just print and ship, but probably.

Send the digital file to Framah (provided he'll do it, of course!) Keep the money in the grumble, and support MaineBased framers, they're the best in the country. Oh they're modest too!

Stretcher bars for this sized canvas are available from Lebron in New York. They will usually be built in sections that bolt together and have expandable joints so you can properly tension the canvas after stretching. The whole thing is designed so it can be knocked down to facilitate shipping of the art.
Quite often items this size require on site assembly.
