I have been using 3M's PMA for any dry mount jobs that makes me nervous - glossy photos, inexpensive digital prints, etc., up to their recommended 16 x 20. I usually burnish these by hand and sometimes I will use Artcare foam for it's rough texture; thinking that it will bond better with the adhesive. Occasionally I will use my cold press for the added pressure.

I would like to know what are your experiences with this product. How do you use it and has anyone had any long or short term problems.

No problems so far with PMA. We've been using it for about six years.

I think you can push the envelope up to about 18" x 24". After that, if it's something we can't vacuum mount, we send the customer to a commercial photo/sign place that has the equipment for larger pieces.

I do wonder about PMA's longevity, too.

I've never heard of problems with PMA. I have a few customers who have me order it for mounting their own photographs, up to, I think, 20x24.

I've been using Crescent's Perfect Mount, both in loose sheets and pre-mounted to a couple of different boards. I suspect they are similar products. In addition to the obvious uses for mounting heat-sensitive materials, I sometimes use it on black fomecore to mount newspaper and magazine articles to prevent the ghosting of the text on the reverse side. More often, I'll use Fusion 4000 for this, since it's also translucent.
