3100 clamp problem

The clamp that holds down the material on my Fletcher 3100 no longer closes down all the way. It stops in the middle now and I have to push the lever up to get it to clamp down.

I can contact Fletcher, but wonder if anyone ran into this and has a quick fix.

BTW, the spring on the bottom is connected and has tension.

Try a little bit of lubrication (just a drop or two) on the pivot points of the lever.
