The Olympic Torch just passed a couple of blocks north of my shop in North West Calgary. All the school children were out (3 schools in the area) and it was really fun to see all the support. Anyone making the trip to Vancouver? Anyone know an athlete that is participating?
 
We am going to see a few things, figure skating, and mens hockey. we are very lucky to have friends who have an extra room for us to spend the night in as I am sure all of the hotels will be either booked, or crazy expensive. Really looking forward to going and being part of this, my daughter is writing a short story about it for her writing class. I can't wait to read it.
 
My son and I wanted to go very bad and started looking into it shortly after the last Winter Olympics. It soon was evident that to travel from WI and get a place to stay, tickets to events and food it was going to be extremely expensive.
We watched for deals but never found anything we could afford. You are very lucky to have a friend with a place for you to stay.

The Olympics are so cool. So festive and bright. I will not be going and will have to settle for watching on my tv.
