I am booking my flights and hotel rooms for the Expo in vagas. This is my first time and have a couple of questions.

Are there any fees associated with attending the show or conference?
What about fees for classes. They are not listed on the expo web site yet. When do you sign up and are there any costs associated with those?
Any other advice or words of wisdom before I proceed?

The West Coast Art and Frame Show (WCAF) and PPFA National Conference will be co-located in Las Vegas (at the Paris Hotel). www.wcafshow.com
Trade Show: January 20-22, 2014 • National Conference: January 19-22, 2014
There are a considerable number of classes available at this show. Most classes have a fee, and they will have packages available where you can pay a flat fee to select as many as you like. There are discounts for being a member of PPFA. The class list and list of hotels with discounts are usually posted in October or by early November.

There will also be another show in New York, at pier 94. www.artexponewyork.com This is a smaller event and is called Decor Expo, which is co-located with ArtExpo. (I believe ArtExpo is open to the public) I am mentioning this because you said EXPO, but also said Las Vegas. Decor Expo will run April 4-6, 2014. I believe this show is still in the planning stages, and they'll probably have info out around the same time - or by early 2014. I believe they plan to have some classes at this event, too.

You'll love going to a show!

Dave. Not inexpensive to attend the show, but extremely well worth every millipenny you spend. My first show was 2012 and was absolutely amazed. There will be info on the classes and you can take the classes that interest you and pertain to your market. Make sure you leave enough time to peruse the floor show. It is huge, leave at least a half day and be prepared to go back. And keep checking back, people wil post plans and dinners and are always welcoming to anyone who wants to join on their off time.

Have fun, hope to meet you!

Definitely worth going!

Depending on your resources, it may be cheaper to book the hotel when you book the WCAF conference, if you intend on staying at the hotel where WCAF is held. They normally have discounted rooms available to attendees. That doesn't mean you can't find a better rate through other means, but the rates are generally pretty good I think.

My main advice for a first time attendee would be not to book more than half your times in classes. There is so much to be learned on the show floor itself, meeting with vendors and other attendees. I almost always book too many classes and end up regretting not having more time on the floor. There are also often before-hours and after-hours events, and these are worth attending as well.

Interestingly enough, we received our bill for booth space today, and it said it was from the "WCAF Expo"...

Dave,
There is a PPFA show that runs at the same time with different classes, a vendor tabletop show and usually a luncheon with a key note speaker. I bet that it is early for the schedule but worth checking out.
