I just received a LION catalog from Tech Mark. They have a couple of tapes that I am unfamiliar with and was wondering if anyone has some insight.
The first is pH7-70. It looks like a Neschen box in the photo but I don't believe (since it's not on their web site) that it's one of their products. The second is called, generically, Rag Hinging Tape.They're both on page 20 of the catalog.
 
Lion have all sorts of weird tapes. PH7-70 is a sort of general-purpose tape, a step up from masking tape I suppose. :icon11: To be fair, they do state (in the UK cat at any rate) that it is suitable for hinging 'low value' prints. Hmmmmmmmm.......

Not heard any bad reports about the other stuff. :icon21: Not heard any good ones either.
 
More info on their website - bearing in mind that care of artwork is not foremost in most suppliers' minds and that 'conservation' and 'tape' are contradictions of terms (IMHO)

Martin Harrold has provided me with this information on our tapes:

"The pH7-70 is a very popular tape, but it is not Neschen and it is not Conservation quality. We grade it 3. It's great for sticking lots of things, but should not ever be used on art of any value.

Our Rag Hinging Tape, from the same UK manufacturer, is the proper stuff. Cotton fibre paper with reversible gum adhesive. We grade it 1."

This product is also on Page 20 of the Lion from Tech Mark catalog. We have four size options available.
