It will also cut thinner stuff ... e.g. it will cut a window "mat" from Lineco backing paper when I want to display something on the back of a frame (Mylar is adhered inside the Lineco window "mat"). The Wiz cuts this thin paper just fine.
Thanks. I have a scrap book contact who may want some 12 x 12 title pages custom cut. She felt that the 4 ply mat samples I cut for her were too thick. I haven't used much 2 ply in a while and can't remember if it comes in any colors except white and cream. I can look it up tomorrow. Thanks!
I cut 2-ply all the time. I use it for signs. Then put a nice colored mat behind it.
The head can grab and rip paper. But, it's easy. put it under 2-ply. set the depth to cut through. I also did this with "sign vynal". If you've got scrap or flaw baord, that works as well.
Yeah, no problem.. I've cut tons of stuff out of card stock. My wife's preschool needed a couple hundred flowers for a mother's day project last year, so I cut them all in about a half hour on our 8500 in the test lab.
If the paper gets too thin it will start to buckle and tear when the floot block moves over it. Sometimes a little 75 repo spray helps. That's a good idea Cliff about putting it under 2-ply, I'll have to try that.
I've cut stencil material on my 8000. Don't know that it is technically mylar (probably not) but it even cuts that just fine. You of course just have to find the correct setting.
If you ever have to test out a complicated mat (fancy corners, multiple openings...) you can use the thin protective board that comes with fabric matboards. It beats wasting a fresh sheet of board. It's a bit flimsy, but if you watch that it doesn't buckle, it works nicely. I don't feel guilty about tossing it then, because I would have tossed it anyway.
