I am searching for a 1/2" gold bamboo moulding to match an existing piece. All I have been able to find is 3/4 inch. Switching out to make both 3/4" (my usual solution) is not an option in this case.

I am hoping somebody either has a source or has a few feet laying around, enough for a 14 x 14 inch frame. Worn out or damaged ok. The original has quite a bit of wear. I don't really want to go searching the yard sales. It has been a long time since I saw one of these, and it was probably Piedmont.

Omega has 5/8" across the face in several colors. Closest to gold is 78870 but it maybe a bit too bronze for your taste?

Andrew, 5/8 would work fine. I am looking at the Omega cat., p.123, but none of these is that small. Am I looking in the wrong place? Thanks. Greg

Their catalog says 3/4" for 78870, but my sample measures 5/8, or in fact a hair less.

Also, the 78871 "silver" that I have in stock is nothing like my silver sample - the 78871 that I have is in reality a light gold

I have way too many bamboo mouldings in stock from Grandpa's purchases in the '60's and am fairly sure I can accommodate you but it would help if you could post a picture. I'm home now and the mouldings are at our remote location so if you could post a picture I could forward it to my framer there to check and see if we have a match tomorrow morning.

It'll cost you though.
Grandpa probably bought them at 8 cents a foot and I'll want at least 50 cents a foot.

edit:

OH! I just re-read the post! You only need a 14 INCH by 14" INCH... I thought it was 14' x 14 '! :o
Back then mouldings came in 18' lengths.

Because of the small quantity I'll have to get 60 cents a foot.

Andrew & Dave, thanks to both of you! At Dave's "inflated" prices, I will give him a try first!

I am already at home, but will post a picture when I get to work in the morning. Thanks!

Time to retire Dave after clearing a cool 3 bucks on that transaction.

That's just silly, Jeff. He's not going to retire
until he has at least $5.50 in the bank. :icon21:

I love the Grumble.

That's my long term plan, Dear Shayla.

Half way there if this transaction goes through.

Well here are some pics. Who would have guessed that a little bamboo moulding could provide so much amusement! Thanks.

Just saw the pics... emailing to Mike to verify I've got it.

Back soon.

Thanks, Dave I'll check back this evening. If you have it, will you send me a PM with what it really will cost you to go get it out of the warehouse and contribute at least 60 cents to your retirement?

PM'd you. Looks like an exact match.

I think it's an old New Jersey Frame bamboo.

Not that this is much help but I have what must be a few thousand feet of 1/2" gold bamboo in my shed. If it isn't identical it very near.
Got it in a job lot and I am waiting for it to come back into fashion. :p

Thanks for all the help. Dave has shipped me out some moulding and I have actually paid him. If he disappears, we will know that he has enough now for retirement.

Thanks again, Dave. I am very grateful.
