If I had a dollar for every time I download a program (from a trusted source like a Grumbler suggestion) and I decide I do not like it and I want to get rid of it I can never locate it again. Search seems completely stymied.
Wouldn't you think there would be some visible pathway to something I just downloaded an hour ago????? Wouldn't it make sense for the Search feature to have some sort of time frame? My solution is to do a System Restore which has always been successful at getting rid of unwanted programs - but if I knew where to find them perhaps I could just uninstall them without the dog and pony show. Grrrrr......

Have you looked at your browser history for the site from which you downloaded?

I downloaded what proved to be a redundant (and annoying) spelling and grammar checking program called After the Deadline from Firefox (which is the browser I use.). I used both of those descriptions in the Search criteria and it came back with nothing.
So once again, System Restore to the rescue! Once I actually had to download the same program twice just to get the correct .exe name!

Mar, did you look in Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs? There's usually a Change/Remove clickable there.

Framar, You must have a control panel with the uninstall feature, mine is in the control panel "programs", hit the uninstall feature and it give a list of all of the programs that are installed. If you uninstall the program you want deleted it will take off all of the downloads - at least that is how I do it but believe me I'm no computer wiz.

I cannot believe I am reading this Mar!!!!
Firefox?? Tools / Options look at the Main tab and then look at the area where it says: Save Files To...... You can select a special place where ALL downloads are relegated to.......(create a folder called All my Cute Downloads, for example) Or select: Always Ask me where to save files.....this way you know where you buried it!!! It's your choice dear Mar! ![]()

I do have a file folder called Downloads and sometimes I accidentally stumble across stuff in there - but most of the time not.
What I like are the big downloads (like Gimp) that install an shortcut on the desktop. What would I do without you dear Paul?

LOL - I discovered that I have it set to Save Files to my Downloads file - don't recall ever setting that up, though - never saw that menu before!
Oy.

BTW, the first place I always looked was in the Add or Remove programs but this most recent mistake was too small to be in there I guess.....

just because you download a program doesn't mean it is installed and if it isn't installed it won't be in the control panel.
