One day these government agencies will move into the modern age and allow us to put the notices in a folder on accessible computers. So much for conservation of resources.
Also, here is the text of the CA FAQ: 5. Is it legal to put postings in a binder if I don’t have room to post materials? Yes, but only under special circumstances. Some situations where this could be acceptable are a construction site where there is only an on-site trailer, or an agricultural site where the workplace is outdoors. If employers put postings in a binder, they must tell employees where the binder is located, have the binder available for employees, ensure employees have easy access to postings and don’t have to walk a long distance or ask to see the material. I don't see this information on the Federal site. Given some ambiguity I plan to mount the print outs and slap them over the 2009 poster that graces out fitting room wall. |

Our local job service provides a combined fed/state poster (single condensed poster that doesn't take up as much wall space) and they don't charge adime for it.

Just note, that one key element is whether you are employees or not. As far as I understand, the only occasions where there are no employees in a business is when it is a sole proprietorship or partnership and there are no other individuals besides the owners working there. So a single person in a sub-s Corp or LLC formation is an employee, even if that person is the sole shareholder and director. However, I don't know whether a business with no employees is relieved of posting requirements - it doesn't seem like you would be required, but logic does not seem to be a prevailing element of our federal government. |
