    Default Restricted Cell Phone Number

I received a call on my cell which the originating phone number showed up as "Restricted". Is it possible for a non-CIA/FBI person to identify what the number was?

The phone company has that info. You can pay to trace those most of the time by dialing a special code just after the call (before using it for any other calls) I think it varies by area. Some will just call the person back, others will tell you the number, others will only report it to the police. (and it has to be a life threatening call to qualify, where you wish to file a report)

Some providers also let it through. For example, if you call my house with a blocked number I have the ability to unblock it. It wont show on my caller ID box, but my phone provider logs it in my account on their website. I just have to go to my account and look at the logs, to see who it was.

I currently have it set up also to question the person if they call with a blocked #, to make sure it is a human being. It gives them a random 4 digit code to enter, with touch tones, before it will let my house phones ring.

Mike, you know so much about this techy stuff it makes my head spin, which isn't good today since I have a monster headache.

Thanks for the info! It's not life-threatening, but nice to know there is a way to obtain the info if I absolutely have to.
