This was my first time creating a shadowbox by myself with this many different elements, I think it turned out pretty well. Used Max Moulding shadowbox frame, Nelson's Moulding star fillet for photos inside, and Bainbridge 4113 OS mat for back and rabbet. I extended out the back with painted wood to add depth for the hat.
Customer is surprising her father with this on his birthday next week! She was very pleased with how it turned out.

(Shout out to ArmyFramer for helping me identify the medals and appropriate orientation for mounting.)

Very nice, I would have been very happy with this if I had done it, more to the point I would have been very happy if I was a customer picking it up.

    nice very nice

you did however reverse the order of the hanging medals. Good conduct medal always comes before national defense medal. Common mistake by some framers when doing military medals and awards.

My father in law was a US marine, nice fella, as well as a detroit sheriff, not sure which is more scary, he collects police memorabilia, I have managed to get my hands on an actual British police helmet (three actually), which I assumed was the hard part, now how on earth do I get ithem through customs?

Coleman's surplus in Pa..... They offer them for around $90.......... Although customs won't really care if they are "retired" helmets. BTW, I get Air Force Scarves from a gentleman in the Netherlands, great postal stystems in Europe! L

The problem with mine are they are not retired, they are new, never been worn and have the real badge on the front, which they are not supposed to under UK law, the person I got them from is a retired police chief, I mentioned my father in law would like one and the next day he brought me three different ones, he said the only reason he got them is because my father in law is a retired law enforcement officer from over seas, apparently they do give them my away occasionally. I am going to remove the badges and send separately to the helmets.

D'oh! Well I guess I wont make that mistake again (hopefully) Thanks for pointing it out.

Speaking of protocol - I just got in a Purple Heart medal, certificate, and the silver wings from the uniform. I told the customer that I would ask youse guys which should be on top of the certificate and which should be on the bottom. One will be placed above the certificate and one below - but which ones?

And - justawhitemat - GREAT job!

I assume the silver wings are his Airborne wings, they would go below, medal on top.

Thanks, I thought that might be the case. But I told the customer I would check with the experts! :)
