I have a small oil painted canvas 9x12 with no extra canvas to stretch. Would you use an adhesive/acid free tape to attached to an acid free board? I don't want any air bubbles behind canvas to surface in the future. Thanks!

If this isn't a valuable item, you could use Frank's Fabric Adhesive. Be sure to let it dry under weight. Also, you probably want to use at least an 8-ply board for your substrate, because 4-ply matboard or foamcore would probably warp. If you do want to stretch it, it would need to be strip-lined, but this requires special materials such as BEVA adhesive, and you need to practice the technique (but not on your customer's artwork). Rob Markoff teaches strip-lining at WCAF.

What about an acrylic gel medium, with a slip sheet, then foam, then foam core, then weights to press it until dry?

I’ve never been a fan of glueing original art.

I’ve had a similar situation years ago. We ended up using a mat and museum glass
I agree with original art. I know the artist and its a small piece. She didnt think about leaving space to stretch. oh well. Thank for input
