Well, perfection might be pushing it... but thank you. i should have 2 more up here within the next week or so.
 
trying to post some images of the process, not just the finished product this time. I'm also trying to figure out a simple way to import images directly from Google Images to the Grumble. So far the best I can do is download from Google images, resize with PS, then upload from my desktop to the Grumble. Seems like there would be a better way, but maybe not. anyhoo. the above image is not a broken guitar, despite appearances to the contrary. In order to position the mounting screws accurately I've 1) removed the screws that hold the neck in place, 2) positioned the instrument where I want it, 3) removed the neck, then 4) poked a drill bit through each of the mounting holes to mark the screw positions. I can then drive the mounting screws up through the back of the mounting board and into the body and neck of the guitar.

When I first saw this, I thought it might be a guitar from Pete Townshend of the Who....:p (Then I saw "Journey")
He liked to smash a guitar at the end of "My Generation" and I saw him do it live in Chicago back in the late 60's or early 70's.
(and those poor smashed Marshall Amp speakers...:eek:)
I remember how I saved up my money to buy my first Marshall Stack, but I never jammed the neck of my guitar thru the speakers....:oops:

LOL, Neil. I thought of the Who immediately when I saw that first photo - they got over that phase of their stage performances pretty quickly when the expenses began adding up.

I wonder if there are any framers out there who have framed real smashed Who guitars?

I know that this is well before our time :D, but....
I don't mind the Vox amps getting smashed but the Marshalls and the Hiwatts..:eek:

Sacrilege. There are starving musicians in China who can't afford Fenders, or Gibsons, or Marshalls.

I used 2 colors of Krylon Fusion. It sticks to the acrylic really well, but you need to really layer it on to get good coverage. I should have layered it on thicker - when I peeled the masking off after it was cut I could see how translucent it still was. It worked out well enough, but it would be better if I had a more opaque paint layer. Also, even though I cleaned and polished it before painting, I could see every little streak after I started spraying. Lessons learned for next time - 1) Clean extra thoroughly and 2) Don't be stingy with the paint. If I go this route again, I may even break out the airbrush instead of the rattle can.
 
nope, not done yet! just took a little break but I've got 11 more of these on they way.

thanks! it's been a real treat working on these and all the interest they've generated here on the Grumble has been fun too.
