My customer wanted to recreate a look that she saw elsewhere. What she got was something unique.
The doily is 22" across, and the mat opening is 24" and 24 1/2" across. The frame size is 30" across. My may cutter only cutts up to 27". So I hand cut the glass, and the outsides of the mats, mounting board, and backing.
I also had to hand draw the ink lines, and the marble line was also hand painted.

How about a close up?

SueMay, terrific look! What did you use for the marble panel? And why doesn't your matcutter go above 27" How did you draw the ink lines? How much? http://www.thegrumble.com/framer/ubbs/smile.gif

Ok MerpsMom, one question at a time.

(First I sewed the doily on to a piece of matboard.)

I used the frame to cut the glass, then I used the glass as a template for the outside dementions for everything going in the frame.

Then I cut the openings in the double mat. After the mats are cut, I put 3M magic tape on the mat to protect it. Then used the oval cutter to score my tape. (I had to hand cut the tape so it would not peel off with my oval cutter.)

Then I used Acrylic paint to create the marble line. Then peel off the tape. Then I used an acid-free Memory album paint pen to hand draw the gold lines.

The whole thing cost aproximatly $580. I don't remember the exact price. (The customer was very happy.)

As for my mat cutter? I don't know why it doesn't go any farther. But that is it's limit.
