I like to do what I call "time checks" occasionally to see how long it takes to do certain tasks. I need the information in order to price correctly. It takes me a while to do this, because I can only time myself while doing a job. Sometimes I forget until I have started something.
Would anyone be willing to help with this? I am willing to share what I come up with anyone who wants to time themselves and share it with me.
I was wondering, if you don't do this, how do you know you are charging the correct amount for the job?

Pamela,
What do you want timed?
And, do you want them averaged over many jobs?
I did some timings about six months ago and I am sure they have changed some. I was just considering doing some more time tests myself. If there is some "form" you would like them in I would be willing to comply.
I definitely would like to know "industry average" times.

I time myself at assorted tasks, like fitting a 16x20 print into a wood frame, stretching an 11x14 cross-stitch, that kind of thing. I average if I come up with different times for the same task. I am interested in fitting woods and metals (not including cleaning the glass), stretching needlework, waiting on customers. If I think of more, I'll let you know. These seem to be the most time-consuming jobs and I want to be sure I am charging the right price. With help, I can get this done faster. If we do the same task, but get diferrent times, we could average them out. Be interesting to see if we are close.
