Does anyone have a source for finding photos of old time Sicilians working at their crafts...making cheese...farming etc. I have a restaurant client wanting this type of theme for one of his dining rooms. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.

a lot of the historical societies are putting their photos online for purchase.

Since I have Sicilian heritage I'd love to see what you find.

The Library of Congress has a ton of old photos on line and plans to add more.

It can be a little time consuming to find what you are looking for though.

The nice thing is they also have copyright information so you can determine whether or not it is legal to print them yourself. The file sizes are large enough to make very large prints on a nice printer.

If you don't have a large format printer I would be glad to print them inexpensively on my Epson 9800.

I did a restaurant here with everything in it coming from LOC w/ no copyrights.

It takes longer to find what you are looking for than to do the work.

But it is defiantly worth the effort.

Jerry is right. Everytime I go there for a specific image type I find myself hours later wondering what it was that I entered the sight to find.

Great place with tons of incredible images.

Call Digital Custom and get in touch with Jeff Makoff. He has a friend in Italy who owns a huge collection of old photos that might fit the bill. It's been quite a while since he told me about it, so the details are hazy.
