I was watching "Mummy Tech" on TV last night, and they were showing, at one particular museum, they've started protecting their Mummies and their linen wraps from becoming brittle and falling apart. Besides strict temperature and humidity controls, and for some, displaying them in oxygen-free glass (acrylic maybe?) cases, they are wrapping them in a "lightweight netting" that you can see through, but safely holds their parts in place.
Jim Miller, did they consult with you about that??
I will keep Stabilitex in mind next time I have a Mummy to frame. Melinex didn't work so well on the last one. It kept sliding out and we all know a shiny Mummy is not good!

What a laugh. That reminds me of:
"You know, if I were a single man, I might ask that mummy out. That's a good-looking mummy" —Bill Clinton, looking at "Juanita," a newly discovered Incan mummy on display at the National Geographic museum.
Man, I know he's a horn-dog, but PUH-LEEEASE.

A couple of weeks ago the host (David Carradine) was talking about a vigilante band who wanted to hang a certain Billy McGee.
And he said: They wanted to KILL BILL!......(and he smiled).
For those who don't know, he was "Bill" in the movies, Kill Bill1, Kill Bill 2.....;)
That was funny!

Okay, here's a queston for ya......
My friend Gail saw an article about a man that does lovely acrylic paintings on...... tortillas!
How would one go about framing that? We've all had "weirdo" stuff to frame, why not tortilla art??

Yep, must be prepared. Times have changed and so have profits.
One of my custom framers took the whole day today to oh so carefully frame a signed litho, declared value, 8 grand. Internet purchase. (Huh?) Frame job around $800-900--double hand wrapped silk mats, 4 ply rag to separate fabric from art, fillet between mats, museum glass, acetate corners, rag backing, ACFC, Lineco AF dust cover, coated wire, strap hangers, photographed, signed condition report, detailed design discussion which ended an hour after closing, and pick up assurance and explanation.
Yep, Val, times have changed and we must be prepared to bend over backwards till we fall over giving great customer service and up to the second preservation framing. Meanwhile customers are filling thier carts with frames at Ikea.
OK--attitute adjustment--Saturday tomorrow. Time to show what we can do and out outdo the BBs.

Oh no! Rest, don't end up with pneumonia like I did. Is there someone to run the shop for you?
Get well Val, now go to bed!
