OK, taking the plunge and starting a thread here.

To preface: I am an old school geek very familiar with software and
computers in general, but not as well versed in hardware issues.

I am currently experiencing an issue with my Wizard 8000 cutter when I make
an "opening only" cut in a larger size.

One of my customers that I made cuts for a few days ago noticed the error
when he got home, but I was hoping it had something to do with the blade
depth (his mats were Moorman linen), now I am not so sure.

A customer came in yesterday and wanted a 2" mat border on a 32 X 40 piece.
No worries, I pull a board out of the slots and do the opening and lay it
down over the piece. His piece included a lot of perspective angles and so
we got out the tape measure and sure enough, side to side shifts about 1/8"
from top to bottom.

Mats cut with the outside cut as well are fine and square all the way
around.

My daily and weekly maintenance has been less than consistent, to my shame.
I do blow out mat crumbs and change the board and blades, but beyond that I have not done any intermediate maintenance. I have been using the machine intermittently since November/Dec of last year.

Looking through the hardware manual didn't quite help, though now I wonder
if I need to tighten any of the belts?

Of course I will contact tech support about it, but won't be able to do so
til Wed. I would appreciate anything you other Wizard wizards would be able
to point out for me, or things to look for before I call tech support.

Many thanks,

Kelly Jo

I would say this is def an issue for tech support.

Several years ago, we had a similar issue and also one with hooking corners.

It now cuts perfectly.

We tightened the belts by loosening the black bolts slightly on the right side of the belt spring tensioning assemblies (@ red dots at the top and bottom right side of the belt), wiggled the device to let it out a bit, then retightened. The rubber belts loosen as they age, and this keeps the tensioners doing their job.

Then we went into the software and made an adjustment to address the hooking issue. We tweaked the rotation field in the config menu until everything was perfect. However, this is one you really should consult with tech support or the manual before touching. We're on our third gantry now, and found that we had to tweak it a bit after each replacement.

I'm also assuming that your air pressure is good, and that the exhaust air line isn't pinched?

If the first suggestion doesn't help, I really suggest calling for support. You may want to do so anyways, and use the retentioning as a temporary fix.

Best regards
Mike

I had the same problem when I first got my Eclipse. It turned out that, apparently during shipping, the cutting bar had gotten knocked out of the correct gear. This meant the top and bottom were not aligned properly. The top and bottom cuts were parallel to the mat edge, the side cuts were skewed. The solution, from tech support: push as hard as you can on the top of the bar until you hear a click. I did. Problem solved.

I would not recommend applying any major forces to your machine without the go-ahead from tech though.

Oh yes, there's definitely a call to tech support in the future...

Thanks for the pre-tech-support-call support - I really do think that there might be something loose on the belt(s).

Cheers

If you think the belts might be out of synch, look at each of them for a red line. It should be in synch with the gear. If they are NOT lined up, don't force it. You'll want to remove the tension on the belt before adjusting. There's a way to do this by tightening the outside portion of the tensioner.

Again, I really suggest calling in for help with the issue. They'll walk you through whatever is deemed to be the problem.

Good luck

Oh yes, I am calling tech support. I'm by no means going to tackle this off the help grid - just wanted to confirm that others had experienced this issue and I wasn't, indeed, insane (in regards to this one thing).

Thanks
KJ

It was indeed a belt that had slipped a click over. Called Wizard tech support and they were great. Now I have an additional troubleshooting step to take next time I need to call...

Thanks all for the replies.
